My buddy's spyder had a replica spoiler, in my eyes, sitting in my spyder looking at it, looks kinda flat. But if they are exactly same material I don't see why I would chose the more expensive. They may look the same but since I'm planning to keep my spyder for as long as I can, I don't wanna go cheap. They will generally be less expensive if you buy them already here in the states, but have cash ready. But my main question is material wise, are there any difference in material used to make em? Which brakes easier which last longer? Is there any difference in weight? (Because the replica are $150-160 ish while OEM are $750+ on ebay) I put ads out in every social media MR2 spyder outlet and got a bite the first day. I know a guy that can sell me a brake light cover if i do get the replica. re: genuine oem - toyota mr2 spyder zzw30 99-07 new hardtop Post by Alsw20 » Wed 8:06 am Would be cheaper just to buy the hardtop MR-S on Trademe. And believe it or not they do have slight different size led brake light. another different is that OEM comes with trunk brake light cover while replicas don't. (Both vis weights are including hardware and real 3mm lexan not the 2mm window it comes with) Cut the rear tabs off below flush, slightly dished or it wont sit flat. Now we all know that the Toyota genuine OEM spoiler and their replicas looks the same except that replicas don't have those screw where the legs are as for OEM those 4 screws make it seem like the legs and the spoiler itself are separate. Soft top 48lbs, oem hard top 43lbs, vis carbon covered 21lbs, vis raw fiberglass 18lbs. Put away the Toyota troubleshooting guide or crazy theories of parts suddenly going bad and just accept that you broke it. Pick two: Performance, Price, Reliability. I'm looking to get a factory style spoiler maybe sometime during the summer and I've been doing a lot of research but still couldn't get certain things answer. impractical, PITA option: Remove entire fastback hard top in order to open engine bonnet every time.
